The Rolwaling Trek Optional offers an immersive journey into one of Nepal's most secluded valleys, situated between the Everest and Langtang regions. This 23-day expedition begins in the traditional town of Dolakha and follows the Tamakoshi River, leading trekkers through diverse terrains and culturally rich villages. The trail provides an opportunity to experience the spiritual significance of Mt. Gaurishankar and interact with various ethnic groups, including Brahmin, Chhetri, Tamang, and Sherpa communities. Trekkers will be rewarded with breathtaking views of Himalayan giants such as Everest, Lhotse, and Gauri Shankar. This trek is ideal for those seeking a less-traveled path filled with natural wonders and cultural insights.


Day to Day Itinerary

You’ll be welcomed at Tribhuvan International Airport and transferred to your hotel. Briefing about the trek will be provided. Overnight at hotel.

Visit major UNESCO World Heritage sites: Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple), Boudhanath Stupa, and Pashupatinath Temple. Overnight at hotel.

Drive through beautiful valleys along the Bhotekoshi and Sunkoshi Rivers to reach Dolakha. Explore the village and its Bhimsen Nath Temple. Overnight at tented camp.

Begin trekking through scenic landscapes and terraced fields. Overnight at tented camp.

Continue through villages and forests toward Pikhuti Bazaar. Overnight at tented camp.

Trek past mixed ethnic villages and streams, surrounded by rhododendrons and orchids. Overnight at tented camp.

Head further along the Rolwaling Valley to reach Khare. Overnight at tented camp.

Cross the Koshi River, climb to Dhunge Patti and walk through Aklaigaon and Jaljale to reach Gongar. Overnight at tented camp.

Steep ascent through forested paths and traditional villages to reach the Buddhist/Hindu village of Simigaon. Overnight at tented camp.

Steep climb through forests and ridges with glimpses of Gaurishankar Himal. Overnight at tented camp.

Descend and follow the Rolwaling River to reach Beding. Overnight at tented camp.

Trek to Na village, a summer pastureland beneath Kang Nachugo. Offers views of Chobutse and surrounding glaciers. Overnight at tented camp.

Rest day for acclimatization. Optional exploration around Na and the valley. Overnight at tented camp.

Cross wooden bridges, ascend gradually between glaciers and reach Tso Rolpa Ice Lake. Overnight at tented camp.

Trek in a high alpine environment toward Glacier Kharka. Overnight at tented camp.

A strenuous day crossing Tashi Lapcha Pass — the highest point of the trek — and descend to Nakle. Overnight at tented camp.

Trek down from the glacial environment to the lower village of Thengpo. Overnight at tented camp.

Descend further into the Khumbu region to reach the Sherpa village of Thame. Overnight at guesthouse.

Pass through rhododendron forests and river crossings to reach Namche Bazaar. Overnight at guesthouse.

Follow the trail past Sherpa villages, cross the Dudh Koshi River, and ascend to Lukla. Overnight at guesthouse.

Take a scenic morning flight from Lukla to Kathmandu. Transfer to hotel.

Free day for shopping or relaxation. Overnight at hotel.

Transfer to the airport for your onward journey.
