The Jomsom Muktinath Trek is a captivating journey through Nepal's diverse landscapes and rich cultural tapestry. Traversing the Kali Gandaki Valley, one of the world's deepest gorges, trekkers experience a blend of lush forests, arid highlands, and traditional villages. The trek culminates at Muktinath Temple (3,800 meters), a sacred site revered by both Hindus and Buddhists, known for its 108 water spouts and eternal flame. Along the way, highlights include the sunrise view from Poon Hill, the natural hot springs at Tatopani, and the apple orchards of Marpha. This trek offers a moderate challenge, making it suitable for trekkers with a reasonable level of fitness.


Day to Day Itinerary

Day 01 : Arrival at Kathmandu; transfer to the hotel

On your arrival, our representative of Unique Adventure International will welcome you at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) but make sure about our representative with a display board at the arrival gate. You will then be transferred to the hotel. We can either relax in the afternoon or hang around. You will have dinner in a traditional Nepalese restaurant where we take pleasure in a Nepalese cultural program as well as food.

Day 02 : Sightseeing around Kathmandu valley, overnight at hotel

Today you go around Kathmandu valley and see Durbar Squares at Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Patan. Visit to Boudhanath will be an unforgettable experience since it is one of the biggest stupas in Nepal. And, Swayambhunath located on top of the mount in the city known as the Monkey Temple will also captivate you. Also, you will visit Pashupatinath, at the bank of Bagmati River which is one of the Hindus sacred places.

Day 03 : Drive to Pokhara, overnight at hotel

After breakfast, we leave Kathmandu and drive for 6 hours. We travel to Pokhara by tourist bus, or car depending upon the number in your group. You will be walking through an exciting panorama of river and landscape. On the other hand, you might take a flight to Pokhara from Kathmandu which takes half an hour. Then, you will get into the hotel and you can relax in the afternoon on your own. You can visit the lakeside region or you can go boating at Fewa Lake.

Day 04 : Drive to Nayapool and start the trek to Ulleri, overnight at guesthouse

Today, driving for about 1 and half hours, you will reach Nayapool. Then, the trek begins by ascending through the beautiful rice, millet and maize farms of local people. Walking all along the major trail of Birethanti allows us to pass through beautiful petite waterfalls. The path takes us to Sudami and then we gradually walk by the side of the valley and reach Hile. Eventually, after a half an hour walk we will reach Tikhedhunga for overnight stay or we can further climb 3000 stone steps to reach Ulleri from Tikhedhunga.

Day 05 : Trek to Ghorepani, overnight at guesthouse

Today, we will march from Ulleri to reach Ghorepani, one of the well-known spots of Annapurna region situated at an altitude of 2856 meters. Our hike simply moves up to Banthanti (2250 m.) going across oak and rhododendron forest. We keep on trekking until we reach our ultimate destination Ghorepani through Nangethanti (2460m.).

Day 06 : Climb up to Poonhill (early in the morning to see the Himalayan panorama and sunrise views) and trek to Tatopani, overnight at guesthouse

Early in the morning we walked to Poonhill (3195m.) where nature allows us to view the striking mountains and beautiful sunrise. After an hour, we descend from Poonhill and continuously walk to Tatopani taking around 7 hours where you can bathe at a natural hot water spring.

Day 07 : Trek to Kalopani, overnight at guesthouse

Trek Kalopani from Tadapani takes about 7 and half hours. The path keeps on ascending and comes across Lete at 2470m, in a while before reaching Kalopani, where you get hold of wonderful views of the Nilgiri peaks, Dhaulagiri I, Annapurna I and Tukuche Peak.

Day 08 : Trek to Marpha, overnight at guesthouse

We trek to Marpha (2670m.) from Ghasa crossing Kalopani and Tukche. Here you will see the oldest Apple brandy distillery.

Day 09 : Trek to Kagbeni, overnight at guesthouse

We depart from Marpha and trek to Kagbeni (2800m.). After reaching the lodge, we rest and optionally go to visit the village of Upper Mustang, Kagbeni village and observe its distinctiveness.

Day 10 : Trek to Muktinath, overnight at guesthouse

On this day, we go up steeply to Muktinath (3880m.). This is one of the most noteworthy holy sites for Hindus. Sanctified water flows from the 108 taps nearby the Vishnu temple. Muktinath is also home to many tribal Tibetans and Buddhists, who visit the temple. You can also see fire eternally burning by natural gas underground.

Day 11 : Trek back to Jomsom, overnight at guesthouse

It takes around 5 hours to reach Jomsom (2720m.) from Muktinath (3800m.). You start the trek moving down the spectacular Kali Gandaki ravine. After passing via Jharkot and Khingar settlements with classic Tibetan art and architecture, you tag on the path down to Kagbeni, a prehistoric village renowned for Tibetan art. Now your track passes all the way through the shore of Kali Gandaki and comes across the Ekle Bhatti. Jomsom, headquarter of Mustang is divided into two settlements and Kali Gandaki river passes between these two settlements. In Jomsom, you can enjoy the splendid views of Nilgiri, Tilicho peak.

Day 12 : Fly back to Pokhara, overnight at guesthouse

We fly from Jomsom to Pokhara, taking around 20 minutes. The major attractions of Pokhara are natural as well as cultural sites such as lakes, temples of Hindus and Buddhist, caves, mountain views. You can view the north region across the hill, Phewa Lake to the snow peaks of the Annapurna, Manaslu, Dhaulagiri ranges.

Day 13 : Exploring around Pokhara valley, overnight at hotel

Early in the morning, striking sunrise view from Sarangkot, some major spots like Patale Chhango (Davis fall), Mahendra Cave, Chamero (Bat) Cave, KI Singh Bridge and other places as per your choice will be explored today. And stay overnight at a hotel.

Day 14 : Drive back to Kathmandu, overnight at hotel

Leaving behind the wonderful countryside morning, we travel for 6 hours and return back to Kathmandu. We can either take a vehicle for a drive or fly back from the beautiful city Pokhara. On arrival at Kathmandu you will be shifted to the hotel. You can then relax for the rest of the day and stay overnight at the hotel.

Day 15 : Free day in Kathmandu, overnight at hotel

We can go around Kathmandu valley, if some important places have been missed according to your choices. After the hectic schedules of trek, today you can either go shopping or have a day's rest before departing from Nepal.

Day 16 : Departure to your own destination

This is your last day, our airport representative will drop you to the airport and you will depart from Nepal.

The trek is considered moderate in difficulty. It includes some steep ascents and descents but is suitable for trekkers with a basic level of fitness and no prior high-altitude trekking experience.
The highest point of the trek is Muktinath Temple at 3,800 meters (12,467 feet) above sea level.
The full trek typically takes 16 days, including arrival, departure, and acclimatization days. The actual trekking portion is usually around 10 to 12 days.
The best seasons are spring (March–May) and autumn (September–November) for clear skies, great visibility, and pleasant weather.
