Day 02: Sightseeing in Kathmandu Valley (1,400m)
After breakfast, embark on a guided sightseeing tour of Kathmandu’s UNESCO World Heritage Sites: Pashupatinath Temple, Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple), Boudhanath Stupa, Kathmandu Durbar Square, Bhaktapur Durbar Square, and Patan Durbar Square. In the afternoon, attend a final trek briefing and prepare gear. Overnight at a hotel.
Day 03: Drive to Jiri (1,905m, 7-8 hours)
Drive 7-8 hours (120 km) from Kathmandu to Jiri, enjoying striking views of the eastern Himalayas, including Ganesh Himal, Dorje Lakpa, and Langtang Lirung. The scenic journey passes through hills and rivers. Arrive in Jiri, a vibrant market village, and check into a guesthouse. Overnight at a guesthouse.
Day 04: Trek to Deurali (2,705m, 7 hours)
Begin trekking from Jiri, climbing through cultivated fields and Tamang villages. Pass through forested areas and grazing lands, descending to Shivalaya, then ascend steadily to Deurali Pass (3,000m). Enjoy ridge-top views before settling in Deurali. Trek 7 hours. Overnight at a guesthouse.
Day 05: Trek to Sete (2,575m, 6 hours)
Trek 6 hours from Deurali to Sete, descending to the Likhu Khola and climbing through forests. Spot diverse wildlife like langur monkeys or pheasants along the trail. Arrive at Sete, a small settlement in a scenic valley. Overnight at a guesthouse.
Day 06: Trek to Junbesi (2,675m, 6 hours)
Trek 6 hours from Sete to Junbesi, ascending through rhododendron, birch, and magnolia forests to Lamjura La Pass (3,500m), where you may catch your first glimpse of Everest. Descend to Junbesi, a charming Sherpa village with a historic monastery. Overnight at a guesthouse.
Day 07: Trek to Nunthala (2,854m, 7 hours)
Trek 7 hours from Junbesi to Nunthala, climbing to Phurtung (2,900m) for views of Thamserku (6,623m), Kusum Kangaru (6,370m), Kantega (6,780m), and Mera Peak (6,650m). Descend through forests to Nunthala, a mixed Sherpa and Rai village. Overnight at a guesthouse.
Day 08: Trek to Bupsa (2,700m, 6 hours)
Trek 6 hours from Nunthala to Bupsa, descending to the Dudh Koshi River and crossing a suspension bridge. Pass through Kharikhola (2,050m) and Juving (1,680m), a large Rai village. Arrive at Bupsa, explore its Buddhist monastery, and enjoy the village’s serenity. Overnight at a guesthouse.
Day 09: Trek to Surke (2,300m, 5 hours)
Trek 5 hours from Bupsa to Surke, climbing to Khari La Pass (2,880m) through rhododendron and oak forests. Enjoy superb views of Cho Oyu (8,201m), Numbur (6,960m), Thamserku (6,629m), and Gyachung Kang (7,922m). Descend to Surke, a quiet village near Lukla. Overnight at a guesthouse.
Day 10: Trek to Phakding (2,610m, 5 hours)
Trek 5 hours from Surke to Phakding, joining the main Everest Base Camp trail. Pass through villages like Mushe (2,650m) and Chhiplung (2,700m), crossing suspension bridges over the Dudh Koshi. Arrive at Phakding, a bustling trekking hub. Overnight at a guesthouse.
Day 11: Trek to Namche Bazaar (3,440m, 6 hours)
Trek 6 hours from Phakding to Namche Bazaar, following the Dudh Koshi River through pine forests. Cross the iconic Hillary Suspension Bridge and enter Sagarmatha National Park at Monjo. Ascend steeply to Namche, the Sherpa capital with vibrant markets. Overnight at a guesthouse.
Day 12: Acclimatization Day in Namche Bazaar (3,440m)
Spend a rest day in Namche Bazaar for acclimatization. Visit Sagarmatha National Park’s visitor center to learn about local flora and fauna, or hike to Syangboche for views of Everest (8,848m), Lhotse (8,516m), Ama Dablam (6,812m), and Thamserku (6,608m). Explore the Sherpa Museum. Overnight at a guesthouse.
Day 13: Trek to Tengboche (3,867m, 6 hours)
Trek 6 hours from Namche to Tengboche, descending to the Dudh Koshi and ascending through rhododendron forests. Spot wildlife like musk deer or pheasants. Arrive at Tengboche, home to the famous Tengboche Monastery, with views of Everest and Ama Dablam. Overnight at a guesthouse.
Day 14: Trek to Dingboche (4,260m, 6 hours)
Trek 6 hours from Tengboche to Dingboche, descending to Debuche and crossing a suspension bridge over the Imja Khola. Pass Pangboche’s mani stones and ascend gently to Dingboche, a Sherpa settlement with terraced fields and views of Lhotse and Island Peak. Overnight at a guesthouse.
Day 15: Trek to Lobuche (4,800m, 5-6 hours)
Trek 5-6 hours from Dingboche to Lobuche, ascending through the Khumbu Valley. Pass Dughla (4,620m) and cross the Khumbu River, climbing to Thokla Pass with memorials for fallen climbers. Enjoy views of Pumori (7,145m), Changtse (7,550m), Lhotse, and Nuptse. Overnight at a guesthouse.
Day 16: Trek to Everest Base Camp (5,360m) and Back to Gorak Shep (5,160m, 9 hours)
Trek 9 hours, starting with a 3-hour hike to Gorak Shep along the Khumbu Glacier. Continue 4-5 hours round trip to Everest Base Camp (5,360m), marveling at the Khumbu Icefall and surrounding peaks. Return to Gorak Shep, a small settlement among moraines. Overnight at a guesthouse.
Day 17: Trek to Kala Patthar (5,545m) and Back to Pheriche (4,243m, 7 hours)
Trek 7 hours, starting with an early 2-3 hour round-trip hike to Kala Patthar for sunrise views of Everest, Nuptse, Pumori, Lhotse, and more. Descend to Gorak Shep, then trek 4-5 hours to Pheriche, a village with a medical clinic. Overnight at a guesthouse.
Day 18: Trek to Namche Bazaar (3,440m, 6 hours)
Trek 6 hours from Pheriche to Namche Bazaar, descending through Pangboche (home to the region’s oldest monastery) and Tengboche. Follow the Dudh Koshi River, passing vibrant Sherpa villages, to reach Namche in the afternoon. Overnight at a guesthouse.
Day 19: Trek to Lukla (2,800m, 6 hours)
Trek 6 hours from Namche to Lukla, descending to the Dudh Koshi and crossing suspension bridges. Pass through Phakding and Thado Koshi, enjoying Sherpa village scenery. Arrive in Lukla, the gateway to Everest, and celebrate the trek’s completion. Overnight at a guesthouse.
Day 20: Fly Back to Kathmandu (1,400m, 35 minutes)
Take a 35-minute morning flight from Lukla to Kathmandu, weather permitting, with aerial views of the Himalayas. Transfer to a Thamel hotel and spend the day relaxing or exploring. Overnight at a hotel.
Day 21: Buffer Day in Kathmandu (1,400m)
Enjoy a buffer day in Kathmandu to visit missed sites like Boudhanath Stupa or Pashupatinath Temple, shop in Thamel, or rest. This day provides flexibility for potential flight delays from Lukla. Overnight at a hotel.
Day 22: Transfer to Airport, Departure
After breakfast, a Best Trips Nepal representative will transfer you to Tribhuvan International Airport for your departure, carrying memories of the Jiri to Everest Base Camp Trek.
