The trail culminates at the revered Muktinath Temple, a sacred site for both Hindus and Buddhists.
Your adventure begins with a warm welcome at Tribhuvan
International Airport (TIA) by our representative from Best Trips Nepal. Look out for our friendly face holding a signboard with your
name. After a brief introduction, you'll be whisked away to your hotel. Settle
in, relax, and soak in the initial vibes of Kathmandu. In the evening, we’ll
treat you to a traditional Nepalese dinner at a local restaurant, where you’ll
enjoy authentic flavors and a lively cultural program. It is a perfect start to
your journey. Stay overnight at a cozy hotel in Kathmandu.
After breakfast, get ready to dive into Kathmandu's rich
history and culture. We’ll explore UNESCO World Heritage Sites, starting with
the majestic Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple) perched atop a hill, offering a
bird’s-eye view of the city. Next, we’ll visit Boudhanath, one of the largest
stupas in Nepal, where the air is filled with the hum of Buddhist chants. Don’t
miss the sacred Pashupatinath temple, a revered Hindu pilgrimage site by the
Bagmati River. The day ends with a visit to the bustling Durbar Squares of
Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, and Patan. Stay overnight at your hotel with time to
reflect on your day.
After breakfast, we embarked on a scenic drive from
Kathmandu to Pokhara. Enjoy the captivating landscapes, winding through
picturesque valleys, rivers, and terraced hillsides. You’ll feel the shift in
pace as we leave behind the city hustle and approach the peaceful aura of
Pokhara, Nepal’s adventure capital. If you prefer, there’s also an option to
fly to Pokhara (a quick 30-minute flight) for a bird's-eye view of the mighty
Himalayas. After checking into your hotel, take the afternoon to stroll by Phewa
Lake or enjoy a peaceful boat ride. Stay overnight at a lakeside hotel.
This is where the real adventure begins! After a 1.5-hour
drive to Nayapul, we hit the trail. The trek starts gently, winding through
charming villages, terraced fields of rice and millet, and lively riverside
pathways. We’ll pass by small waterfalls as we make our way to Sudami, and soon
after, reach Hile. Depending on your energy levels, we can either stop at
Tikhedhunga or tackle the famous 3,000 stone steps leading to Ulleri. The sense
of accomplishment and the beautiful surroundings will make the climb worth
every step! Stay overnight at a guesthouse.
Today’s trek is magical as we venture from Ulleri to Ghorepani. The trail takes us through dense oak and rhododendron forests, especially vibrant in spring when the flowers are in full bloom. The views open up as we ascend, revealing glimpses of snow-capped peaks. After trekking for around 5 hours, we’ll arrive in Ghorepani, a famous stopover for trekkers in the Annapurna region. Stay overnight at a cozy guesthouse where the mountain air feels refreshing.
Wake up early for one of the trek’s most unforgettable
experiences—sunrise at Poon Hill (3,195m). A short, predawn climb rewards you
with panoramic views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges as the sun rises,
painting the peaks in warm, golden hues. After soaking in the views and
snapping some photos, we descend to Ghorepani and continue our journey to
Tatopani. After a 7-hour trek, you can relax your muscles in the natural hot
springs at Tatopani—a perfect way to unwind after a day on the trail. Stay overnight
at a guesthouse.
After a refreshing night’s rest, we trek to Ghasa, a quiet
village nestled between towering peaks. The trail takes about 6 hours, winding
through scenic landscapes, charming settlements, and lush greenery. You’ll
start to notice the landscape changing, with more open views of the Kali
Gandaki valley and the high Himalayan peaks in the Jomsom Trek distance. Stay
overnight at a guesthouse in Ghasa, where the air is crisp and the stars shine
bright.
Today’s trial is rich with history, taking us through an old
trading route once used by Tibetan merchants. After breakfast in Ghasa, we head
towards Tukuche, passing through forests and along the banks of the Kali
Gandaki River. The views of Dhaulagiri and Annapurna are spectacular,
especially as we approach the wide, open valley of Tukuche. The village itself
has a rich history, and you’ll feel its charm as you walk through narrow
streets and past stone-built houses. Stay overnight at a guesthouse.
After leaving Tukuche, the landscape becomes more arid and
desert-like as we approach Jomsom, the gateway to the Mustang region. The trail
winds through apple orchards and traditional Tibetan-style villages. You’ll
also pass through Marpha, famous for its apple orchards and local brandy. By
afternoon, the strong winds pick up in the valley, making the last stretch to
Jomsom feel more adventurous. Jomsom is a vibrant hub with a mix of trekkers,
locals, and stunning views of Nilgiri and Tilicho Peak. Stay overnight at a
guesthouse.
After an early morning flight, we leave the mountains behind
and return to Pokhara. The 20-minute flight offers stunning aerial views of the
Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. Once back in Pokhara, you have the day to
explore the city’s many attractions or simply relax by Phewa Lake. The
laid-back vibe of Pokhara is a perfect contrast to the trekking days. Stay
overnight at a lakeside hotel.
We bid farewell to Pokhara and drove back to Kathmandu,
enjoying the scenic countryside once again. If you’d prefer, there’s an option
to take a short flight instead of the road journey. Upon arrival in Kathmandu,
you can relax and reflect on your trek or head out for some last-minute
shopping in Thamel. Stay overnight at a hotel in Kathmandu.
Today is a free day, perfect for exploring anything you may
have missed. Perhaps visit more UNESCO sites, stroll through the markets for
souvenirs, or simply enjoy a relaxing day at your hotel. After the
adventure-packed itinerary, this day is all about unwinding. Stay overnight at
your hotel in Kathmandu.
After breakfast, it’s time to say goodbye to Nepal. Our
representative will transfer you to the airport in time for your flight home.
Take with you the unforgettable memories of the Himalayas, friendly locals, and
the unique experiences from your trek. Safe travels!
The Annapurna Jomsom Trek is one of Nepal’s most rewarding mid-altitude treks, seamlessly blending natural beauty, cultural immersion, and spiritual discovery. At Best Trips Nepal, we’ve designed this journey for those who seek to experience Nepal beyond its mountains — through its people, traditions, and sacred heritage.
The trek begins with a scenic drive from Pokhara to Nayapul, launching you into a trail that winds through vibrant rhododendron forests, terraced hillsides, and charming Gurung and Thakali villages. As you ascend gently through the Annapurna Conservation Area, the landscape gradually shifts — from lush greenery to the arid, high-altitude terrain of the Mustang region.
One of the most spiritually significant highlights of the trek is Muktinath Temple — a revered pilgrimage site for both Hindus and Buddhists. Located at an altitude of 3,800 meters, this sacred temple is known for its eternal flame and 108 water sprouts, believed to purify one's soul. Pilgrims and trekkers alike find peace and inspiration in its serene surroundings.
Throughout the journey, trekkers are treated to spectacular views of Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, and Tukuche Peak, while walking alongside the mighty Kali Gandaki River, which cuts through one of the deepest gorges in the world. This geological marvel adds to the trek’s uniqueness, both visually and geographically.
The Jomsom region also offers rich cultural interactions with the Thakali people, known for their hospitality, traditional architecture, and delicious cuisine. Whether you're enjoying a home-cooked Thakali meal, observing local rituals, or browsing traditional crafts, every moment offers a meaningful connection.
The trek typically ends with a short flight or drive from Jomsom back to Pokhara, providing a final aerial view of the majestic Himalayan terrain you’ve just explored on foot.
Unlike high-altitude expeditions, the Annapurna Jomsom Trek is moderate in difficulty and accessible to a wide range of travelers — from seasoned adventurers to first-time trekkers, and even families seeking a culturally enriching experience.
With Best Trips Nepal, you’re not just walking a trail — you’re following a story, one written in mountains, monasteries, and ancient myths. Join us on this unforgettable trek, where the landscapes are vast, the spirituality is profound, and the memories are timeless.
